Play draughts online: International draughts (10×10)

Play draughts online for free against the computer or a friend, right in your browser, with no account and nothing to download. This is International draughts — also called Polish draughts or 10×10 checkers — the classic large-board game with twenty men per side on fifty dark squares.

White moves first, so by default the computer opens and you play black at the bottom of the board. Switch sides in Settings. Kings fly any clear diagonal distance, men capture backward, and when you must jump you must take the longest capture sequence.

Movement on this board follows international draughts as described by the FMJD. Checkerso does not claim certification by any federation.

Draughts, English draughts, and checkers: which game is this?

"Draughts" is the British name for checkers, and it covers more than one game. English draughts is the 8×8 game with twelve men a side and kings that move one square, the game Americans call checkers. International draughts, on this page, is the 10×10 game with flying kings that is played in international competition and across much of continental Europe.

If the 8×8 game is the one you want, English draughts is on the home page as American checkers.

Core rules on this board

Longest capture is strict here — count the whole chain before you tap, especially when a flying king can skim several victims on one diagonal.

Flying kings

Plan the full capture

Sketch every hop in the longest line. A short jump that leaves a longer capture on the board is illegal.

Use backward man jumps

Men may capture toward either end of the board. Rearward hops often unlock flying king shots on the next turn.

Compared with 8×8 modes on Checkerso

American checkers and Pool checkers use twelve men on an 8×8 board. International checkers keeps flying kings like Pool but adds the 10×10 start, twenty men, and mandatory longest capture.

Pool checkers uses the same 8×8 start with flying kings but without longest-capture — a smaller board with familiar opening shapes.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between draughts and checkers?

They are the same family of games under two names: draughts is the British word and checkers the American one. The rules depend on the version. English draughts (American checkers) is 8×8 with short kings; International draughts, the game on this page, is 10×10 with flying kings, backward captures for men, and mandatory longest capture.

Is this English draughts?

No. English draughts is the 8×8 game on the Checkerso home page, listed as American checkers. This page is International draughts on a 10×10 board.

Can I play draughts online with 2 players?

Yes. Choose New game, then Play a Friend, and send your friend the link; neither of you needs an account. To share one phone or laptop, choose 2 Player (Same Device) instead.

Do I need to download anything to play draughts?

No. The game runs in your browser, free and without an account.

Do International men move backward on quiet turns?

No. They step forward one square; only captures may run backward.

Must I take the longest capture?

Yes. When jumps are on, every legal move must capture the maximum number of opposing pieces.

Does difficulty change International rules?

Easy, Medium, and Hard only change search depth. Flying kings and longest capture always apply.
