Easy Anti checkers
Easy Anti checkers is English giveaway against a shallow computer. Same 8×8 board and forced jumps as Anti checkers. The side that cannot move wins.
Easy changes only how far the computer searches. The reversed result does not change.
Giveaway rules on Easy
You win by having no legal move, or no pieces left. Movement matches American checkers — forced jumps still apply — but the result is reversed.
- If you can jump, you must; that is how you often force the opponent to take your men.
- Kings walk one square; they do not fly.
- Crowning on the last rank ends the turn.
Easy Anti search depth
The Easy opponent uses alpha-beta search with maximum depth about 1 and no quiescence extension into capture lines.
The evaluation is tuned for giveaway play — fewer of your pieces and fewer moves for you are better.
It will miss tactics that need two or more full turns to set up.
Bait the Easy giveaway AI
Feed-and-run chains
Line up two or three of your men on one diagonal so the opponent must jump through all of them. Easy rarely refuses the capture chain you offer.
Avoid crowning unless you must
Kings move backward, which makes them harder to force into captures. On Easy, staying a man often keeps a piece on a one-way path into enemy jumps.
Single-bait sacrifices
Offer one man the computer must take to open a lane. Because search depth is about one, it will take the bait without seeing your follow-up sacrifice.
Anti checkers difficulty levels compared
| Level | Best for | Search | Typical gap | Practice focus |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Easy (this page) | First games of English giveaway | alpha-beta depth ≈ 1 (no quiescence) | Walks into obvious feed-and-run chains | Line up sacrifices the AI must take in one turn |
| Medium | Players who know the reversed goal | alpha-beta depth ≈ 3 (with quiescence on captures) | Dodges the clearest one-move baits; shorter sacrifice math | Use the edges to limit where the opponent can jump |
| Hard | Longer sacrifice setups | alpha-beta depth ≈ 5 (with quiescence on captures) | Plans several jumps ahead; fewer free giveaways | Set traps that only pay off after two of your moves |

Frequently asked questions
Why does the computer force me to jump in Anti checkers?
Capturing is mandatory under the same move rules as American checkers. In Anti checkers that rule is how you steer the opponent through your giveaways.
Is it better to get a king in Anti checkers?
Usually no on Easy. A man only moves forward, which often ends in a forced capture. A king can slip away diagonally backward.
How can I beat Easy Anti checkers quickly?
Build one long mandatory jump chain. The Easy AI does not calculate multi-turn traps, so a single feed-and-run can empty much of your side in one opponent turn.
